Gears of War 3 Season Pass Available Sept. 20th

The launch of “Gears of War 3” on Sept. 20 is still a few weeks away, but Microsoft and Epic Games are already announcing that there’s more to come by the way of multiple game add-ons for the year’s biggest blockbuster. Revealed today, the “Gears of War 3” Season Pass entitles you to the first four installments of downloadable content that will roll out over the course of the next year, with the first releasing this November.

Adding hours of campaign and multiplayer mayhem, these game add-ons will be must-haves for any “Gears” fan, and the “Gears of War 3” Season Pass is your ticket to getting them at a discount the day they release. Available Sept. 20 for 2400 Microsoft points on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, the season pass represents a 33 percent savings versus purchasing the add-ons individually, and also includes an exclusive Liquid Metal Weapon Set.

The spectacular conclusion to one of the most celebrated sagas in video games, “Gears of War 3” has already surpassed 1.3 million pre-orders worldwide, making it the fastest pre-selling Xbox exclusive in the history of the platform. As further testament to the immense anticipation surrounding the game, 1.3 million players played more than 20 million matches in the “Gears of War 3” multiplayer beta this spring, helping refine and polish the hotly anticipated juggernaut.

      anyway Microsoft can make more money. Oh my Gosh stop screwing over the players for content that should of came with the game especial for someone spending 150 bucks. Man so basically the game is going to cost almost a 100 dollars when its said and done.

      No, I’m of the mind that the Epic edition (not to mention the Gears console) should have come with this. Yeah, it’s only $25, but look at what I’m already popping out for the game. I’m a huge Gears fan, I run a Gears group and I’ll buy this season pass but it really leaves an ill taste in my mouth to do so. Just wrong guys.

      just as a random thought, epic took the time and money to produce the griffin character and then provided him totally free…several dozen hours that they will not be reimbursed for and we are complaining about dlc? I reiterate, the cost of the dlcs is not included in the estimation for the special editions…that cost is based upon the frivolities included in those editions. To include the dlc, the cost would have to increase to offset the time and money for developing the dlc. they even provided us with four weeks of beta and took our input to polish the game, and yet those of us who decided that we just had to have a console with the gears icon, or a statue of marcus somehow have decided that the cost of those things is no longer worth what we were originally going to pay for them, and now we deserve more? Epic has already done more to polish gears and provide extras for their fans than most developers ever do, and we’re still complaining? Shame on us. How selfish. you have obviously never run a business before, or you would understand that to produce these things after the primary sales period is a risk on the company’s part. I think they’re entitled to little reimbursement.

      Wow, with all of the different weapon skins, you’re better off saving your money and sticking to the shipped skins if you want to be different from everyone else. At this point, it’s not special anymore. What’s the point of shelling out the extra money just to have what everyone else has? I just feel like Epic is milking people for all they’re worth. I’m a huge Gears fan, but it’s all getting to be a bit much. “Buy this! Then buy that! Buy this version so you can get this skin! Then buy that version so that you can get that character!” I really love the Gears franchise and I’m looking forward to playing Gears 3. And cue the troll comments…

      If were paying $150 bucks for a game we should get a season pass for free, EA at least did that ultimate edition thing with BFBC2 where if you buy the game new you get a VIP pass for free. and that was a $60 game. some of us are spending upwards of $400 on this game and were getting jipped out of $30 of content that should probably be in the game already if they have it finished. Thats greed right there, to me this has MS written all over it, not Epic, but i hope they are fighting this as much as they can cause its rediculous. i almost feel its a waste of money to get the DLC now, specially if its out the day of launch like what EA did with D age 2. i still havnt bought that piece of DLC cause it shouldve been IN the game. EPIC is one of the best and most community friendly developers out there, so i really hope they arent haarming their reputation with this peice of garbage, and that its all MS’ doing.

      Dude I have been building up my free Microsoft points from “BING REWARDS” ever since the program came out in 5-16-2011 for just this thing so I an’t complaining.
      For me “ITS FREE” AHH HA HA HA! and all I had to do is do like 20 piece of cake searches on Bing every day, it takes not more then 5 min. and I think it’s awesome…check it out!!! 500 Bing points for 400 Microsoft points and you get 10-19 Bing points a day, you do the math.

The game disks only have so much room on them, they can’t fit everything they want in the game on the disk all the time and besides games play better when they are on your hard drive and it’s quieter then the system spining the disk all the time.

      $30 you get the first 4 DLC (because u paid in advance its no charge when they release)
      and the liquid metal skin set…

      its a deal if u ask me… and since gears next to never leaves my disc tray… im content with droping $30 on the first 4 DLC

      Personally i will BOYCOT this. Gameproducers get more greedy by the day on xbox. we already pay too much just to play on xbox live, then we pay too much on microsoft points for crappy add ons. Just imagine if they all turn out like call of duty is doing. Robing another 40 euros at minimum from gamers with a few stupid maps and a zombie map.
      But this is maybe even more outragous. They actually release an add on as the game comes out. giving us a discount card. bullshit they should appreciate what people are spending on their games already. and to get loyalty of their fans release add ons for free. or at least make the add ons more cheap.       remember when downloadable content and extras were a pleasant surprise
      far after a game was released. It was like “look what else we made for
      you guys to play while you were killing noobs.” Now every game on the
      release date has add-ons lined up for
      extra revenue. From the business side I understand. From the fan and
      gamer side I think it’s crooked as hell not to include parts of the game
      that are obviously already complete. Whats next? We sell you the first
      stage and you pay extra for each additional stage? I pre-ordered the
      special edition console and am a huge fan, I’m just really disappointed
      that it still isn’t enough to get the season pass.

      country costs 200 dollars and we always pay more, and I buy epic
      edition, limited edition with lancer and retro edition xbox 360 gow,
      grand total of 880 dollar and now I want to charge 2400MP, Because
      nothing brings you purchase this new dlc, I’m a fan but not stupid, I
      hate shopping such techniques bother me …POD came out cheaper because I knew where to buy the regular pressures of all of 1000 dollar in my country

I’m in complete agreement with you guys the season pass should be included in the epic edition. I’ve had it preordered from the time it was announced and it always irritates me when they annouce this stuff in stages and charge you out the butt just because its new. I say if they don’t included the season pass in with the epic edition ill just be waiting until they do another bundle like they did with GOW2 maps.

      I have nothing against DLC but 2 months after the game is released? Give me a break, its probably already done. Why can’t this be included in the game? It stinks. The DLC will also probably be compulsory for multiplayer so once you have the game they have you over a barrel. Getting back to gears 2 “host shotgun” anyone?

      For me, it’s about what I can play:  The Game $59 and now the Expansion packs $30 The total price is $89 which to me is fair. If you want more goodies, then you have pay for those items. Just know what you want and can afford. I think Epic does a great job of breaking down the items so an individual can purchase exactly what they want.

      I think epic should include the pre order character skins in the season pass,
      since hardcore fans like me would love to have all concepts available in
      the game. Is not fair that players cant enjoy more than one of them, unless they have the money to spend.

      Think of it as an investment. They’re planning 4 DLC’s over the next year after release. Let’s say each DLC costs $10. If you bought each one as they came out, over the course of a year you’d spend $40. But here’s what the season pass does: Take 33% off of each DLC, making each one roughly $7.50, and multiply that by 4, and you get $30. So you pay them $30 now, and you get some cool weapon skins as a little treat, then you get the next 4 DLC’s automatically as they come out. Considering that DLC’s for other big games are often $15 nowadays… This is a pretty rad deal.

      Anyone remember when DLC was meant to be EXTRA for a game?  By having premeditated DLC for games, game devs aren’t really making the DLC EXTRA.  They’re just limiting the retail version of the game, like it’s “freeware” for a computer.  Then if you want to unlock all the details of the game you have to fork over more $$.  Some games even have “DLC” pre-loaded on the disc, you just pay for the “key” to access it.  Mostly it’s a scam guys, as much as I love extra content…

      I purchased the season pass a few days after it came out. I just purchased the Horde Command pack through the Xbox live game marketplace and was charged 800 points or 10 dollars in this case. When I put in the game it asked me to download it for free. Why was I still charged if I had the season pass. I would like my money back for the command pack now.

      I eagerly opened the box only to find a peice of paper stating if i
      wanted to see my gears 3 manual i had to go online.!! £40 and no
      manual!? Hmmmm!

      Then when I go to play on gears 3 i get a message WARNING me I have NOT purchased the DLC available at the store…Yet if I ignore this message i can still play.
      Surely this is an advertisement? As i do not NEED the DLC in order to play,and i’m quite sure advertisements should not contain any WARNINGs.!?

      I really Cant believe how WE have to pay for DLC !!
      Especially after WE have already bought the game and pay regular XBOX subscription charges,now WE are expected to pay for things CLASSED as extras i.e maps or (as in the pheonix rising dlc)the option to RE-UP!
      The box promises dedicated servers..yet this is also a paid extra that does not come with the game!
      And on top of all this contained in the DLC bundle are Gamerscore points!..What ever happened to things like Gamerscore or skins being awarded for skill and not just for money!?

      It just Seems like whole games are being split and sold in expensive little sections to be honest..what a rip off!!

      I for one wont be buying any extra DLC..epic have had enough cash from me.

      PEOPLE PLEASE STOP BUYING DLC,
