Gears of War 3: RAAM’s Shadow Game Add-on Coming Dec. 13th

Today, Microsoft and Epic Games announced “RAAM’s Shadow,” the new campaign experience for the award-winning blockbuster, “Gears of War 3.” Starring a cast of characters both new and eerily familiar to the series, “RAAM’s Shadow” will deliver more than three hours of gameplay set in a storyline that precedes the events of the first “Gears of War,” as well as six new multiplayer characters, the Chocolate Weapon Set and an additional 250 Gamerscore. “RAAM’s Shadow” will launch Dec. 13 for 1,200 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, marking the second major game add-on for this year’s critically-acclaimed blockbuster, “Gears of War 3.”

“When we announced the ‘Gears 3’ Season Pass, we immediately started getting hundreds of questions from fans about what the game add-ons would be,” said Epic Games Design Director Cliff Bleszinski. “We’re really excited to be lifting the curtain on the first two releases, first with the ‘Horde Command Pack’ and now with ‘RAAM’s Shadow,’ which gives fans a new perspective on the ‘Gears’ universe and is also the biggest DLC release we’ve ever made.”

“RAAM’s Shadow” drops players into the events of Sera post-Emergence Day, as Zeta Squad is enlisted to evacuate Ilima City and protect the citizens against a Locust Kryll storm. Taking on the infamous Locust leader from “Gears 1,” General RAAM, Zeta is led by Michael Barrick (from “Gears of War” comics fame) and comprised of familiar faces such as Lt. Minh Young Kim (“Gears 1”) and Tai Kaliso (“Gears 2”), and also includes a new female comrade, Alicia Valera.

In addition to fighting as a new squad of Gears, players will step into the boots of RAAM himself, and for the first time storm the human stronghold from the perspective of one of the series’ most legendary bosses.

“RAAM’s imposing size and strength, along with his Kryll shield, make him one of the most powerful and daunting foes in the ‘Gears’ universe,” said Bleszinski. “We think fans are going to have a blast unleashing hell upon the poor humans for the first time in a campaign setting.”

With the announcement of “RAAM’s Shadow” and in anticipation of the launch of the “Horde Command Pack” on Nov. 1, featuring new maps, characters, weapon skins, Horde fortification upgrades and Achievements, there’s never been a better time to purchase the “Gears of War 3” Season Pass for 2400 Microsoft Points, entitling you to the first four game add-ons for discount of more than 30 percent!

Multiplayer news is coming November 1st, so keep an eye out!

          Seeing as how it’s already November, by the time the fourth DLC comes out it’ll be 2012. So, technically, you will be getting all the DLC for the first year that Gears 3 is out.

        if you purchased the season pass, you can download the first four dlc without paying for them agian. you paid for the season pass so you don’t have to pay for the dlc.

          Factor in the price of the 4 dlc’s if you bought them separately. Now take the 30 bucks you spent on the season pass. You are saving 30% by buying the season pass. You could say you are getting them “free” if you think you paid $30 for the season pass which does absolutely nothing, and are getting the dlc’s as a bonus. In reality, you are just getting them at a discounted rate.

          gears halloween event… kryll and 10,000 formers per wave= awesome all they have to do is make the maps darker and have light sources placed everywhere so you can run somewhere but its dark in almost all places of the map add kryll and the formers and boom zombies game

          Okay I have to say Tai really didn’t have THAT big a part in Gears 2 yes he was a pretty big character in the books but I keep hearing people say how the game wasn’t the same without him even though he was in about maybe an hour of game play?.

            He plays quite a large role in the Gears of War franchise as a whole tho, its stated that tai was the inspiration for the lancers chainsaw bayonet  for example, and he saved dizzy’s ass in number 2. He’s a kick ass character and its the end of the trilogy if they don’t include all of the three games key characters (i.e anyone who doesn’t wear a helmet, not including the carmines) then it would leave a lot of people disappointed in my opinion.

      You know what i think is funny? The fact that you have to pay money to get a discount on more expensive add ons, i think thats just a scam, gears of war season pass is terrible and i dont advise it, because think logical gears 3 already has so many flaws and it gets boring so quickly. Online is retarded and you guys havent changed a thing to decline the rate of cheaters with modified controls, who make the game so disappointing, i thought i was going to be happy with your game, but im really not. the campaign is filled with glitches and unbelievable lags and “what the f..k is going on with this game,” moments. Sorry to burst your bubbles, but overall i dont think i will be investing much money into this game.

        Well thats just you, game works great for me, liked it so much i traded in my standard version and bought the epic edition. Greatest multiplayer game to come out in years, 100 times better than gears 2 which i thought was kinda dissapointing besides the campaign. Went and bought the season pass and i think it was an excellent investment for me. Maxing out all my horde skills now to get ready for Nov 1st. As for this addon it sounds amazing, can’t wait!

              Yes! Armoured Kantus sounds awesome. I preordered solely to get Savage Kantus, they’re my favourite Locust hands down. And I second the Alex Brand DLC idea, I’d might have already bough season pass but I’d still pay for that. Not really, haha, but I’d love epic some much if they brought Alex to the games.         no you dont have to pay for the add-ons. if you buy the season pass it will give you the first four dlc’s that epic releases. Im not sure how the game will know if you have the season pass. but buy season pass = 4 dlc for one price. dlc will probably still need to be downloaded to the harddrive though.

      This is insane, why are people happy that developers. especially “gamers favourites” such as epic are strategically releasing dlc that they obviously have already made. Who is to say how much content should be included in a game in the first place? It’s a massive con, different games with different boxes for an extra tenner, paying for maps which are simply rehashes of maps from previous games, downloadable content which is already ready to ship but saved to make extra money and the genius idea of getting people to pay for “free content” which will be released over a time scale which means that at least half of the people that get the season pass won’t ever play the game by the time the last piece of content is delivered. Hell they will probably have traded it! rant.

          lol. the point is you have to pay extra for content that’s already physically on the disc and still people feel like they’re not being jipped. for example, the Silverback’s rockets and the Onyx Guard are already in the game, they’re just locked away so they milk it. GOW3 is amazing but the way they’ve gone about the DLC is so cynical it’s pathetic. Still, if people are retarded enough to shell out for a pink lancer who can blame them.

        Well, in this particular situation, Epic was given an extra 6 months to polish their game.  It only makes sense that they’d have fully prepared DLC not long after launch, since they had those 6 extra months to make said DLC.  But I’m pretty sure you just forgot that particular fact, yeah?

      I’d not touch a single bit of dlc for this until they fix the bugs already in it. A game glitch wiped out my record of 18/20 campaign collectibles and reset (and thereby relocked) the campaign levels I’d played in arcade mode. No way I’m doing all that work again. Seriously considering using the game disc as a coaster.Gears 2 was better.

      Just took back my Battlefield 3 pre-order today. I think this is gonna be my main squeeze for at least until the summer, or some new crap game that sucks me in.       To Epic (Hopefully you read this) Have you ever considered a Savage Sniper? He could have an eyepatch instead of the goggles. What about adding the Grinder and Flame Boomer/ Grenadier to Beast? You could upgrade the Grinder and make him Savage by giving him a Vulcan and mounting the Vulcan ammo box on his back. Whenever you finish all 50 waves of Horde it says you defeated Myrrah, when really, you didn’t battle her. For wave 50 you could make Myrrah the boss with her Tempest. You could also add a Stranded as a multiplayer character. Let’s not forget about Skorge now shall we? Is he gonna be in the later DLCs? I really want him in GOW 3. What about another campaign add-on that let’s you control Skorge and rip tanks in half with his double chainsaw. Talk about Badass. These are just some ideas for GOW3 DLCs. I hope you use some of them. I’d be really happy if you do :) -From Doods458, Gears fan, level 63, Dances with Death.

      Season Pass Holders should not have to wait to download the new content. I think its some serious BS that epic can’t get this shit right for us.       Hang on a minute. I purchased the season pass but when I went to download on the market place it asks me for 1200 mp for the download. At the side bar it states do not download if you have the season pass as you will be charged again.

      ya great content one problem everyone with a season pass has to buy it even though its suppose to be part of the season pass. i get home from work to find this all out epic fucks up once again just so people will pay twice to get the same content. how hard is i to test something out that you make. its not at all i would no. fix the shit epic

      Dear epic games.
      I took my hard drive and put it in my friends xbox, as I don’t have xbox live.
      After finally being to download Ramm’s shadow, I lost all my credit on my profile, then after that disaster. I go on it again when I get home and put the hard drive in my xbox, and I lost all the maps all the weapon skins and everything else. So it is now blank and Gears of war 3 went from being the best game I’ve ever played to becoming the most stressful game ever.  Advice?
