Gears of War. It reinvented cover based mechanics in third person shooters today.

It was one of the first video games I ever played and when I was a small child saved up money to buy the full game rather than just the episode 1 shareware. So much Nostaglia

Gears of War 1. It is legendary.

Bulletstorm!  I love that it emphasized fun and humor, but is still incredibly gorgeous.  ANd Anarchy is the first multiplayer thing I’ve ever been decent at.

I had lots of fun playing UT2004 day after day with my friends!

Gears of War Series is my favorite, but I remember Unreal Tournament and how multi player was born. Kids don’t know it now with XBL but way back UT started the multi player we know today. 

Of course first of all the Gears of War franchise, then would have to be infinity Blade 1 and 2, and I really want to try out Jazz JackRabbit cuz it looks freakin awesome!

Unreal for me. many hours spent playing and fragging friends non stop. i still have them all in original boxes in my tub in my basement, il see if i can gather them all up and take a pic for err one.

Obviously for me it’s the Gears of War series. Made me fall in love with an Xbox all over again.

My next pick would be Bulletstorm. Just too much fun.

I got an XBOX because of how good Gears of War 2 looked, great game no matter what anyone says!

Gears of War Trilogy, followed by Bulletstorm.

Gears simply because it’s the greatest game made, and Bulletstorm’s vivid scenery and energetic gameplay made me fall in love with the game.

Castle of the winds!!!!! Probably one of the first pc games I ever played, and introduced me to the dungeon crawler, loot collecting, enchanted cloak games of today!!! Without good titles early on I might not even be playing games today…..Jazz Jackrabbit was cool too, and ofc Gears.

I loved Unreal Tournament long time ago, but i think i like more Gears of War trilogy now!

What if you do not have just one favorite Epic Games game? I have more than one.

I love the entire Unreal series and Bulletstorm.

Out of all U games I would probably pick Unreal 1 with its expansion pack Return to Na Pali as it is not only a classic and Epic’s first big 3D title but also a very atmospheric game with a simple yet catching storyline of colonization and pointless hatred towards foreign civilizations and fast gameplay. The scenery is also very creative! It was the first time I’ve seen such a colourful sky and such a big variety of environments in a game. A real masterpiece which introduced me to the world of the Unreal Engine and the U-series! It’s a game which changed my life.
Then there is Bulletstorm. It convinces with its crazy humour, serious storyline and individual gameplay though. I’ve never seen anything like Bulletstorm before. It’s just a shame you cannot mod for it and that its coop mode was scrapped from the final release. It could have been an even greater game than it already is. Once I started to play it I couldn’t imagine a life without at least one Echo run per week anymore. A very catching game, played its campaign a dozen of times already!

It’s definitely not easy to decide for just one game, that’s why I’d actually choose two favorite Epic Games titles: Unreal (RTNP) and Bulletstorm!

UT was great but Gears is best (IMO of course)

Unreal and UT. Tutorial level in UT looked amazing. The Spire in Unreal even more so.

Gears was great too no question, but badly only the first part was released on pc…

UT3. I’d probably say UT04 or UT99 but I wasn’t an online gamer when these were published, thus they have no nostalgic value.

My favorite Epic Game is a Tie between the original Unreal Tournament & Jazz Jackrabbit!

Gears of War 3 for consoles of course!
And Unreal Tournament III for PC! Great Campaign with greater multiplayer! And when Unreal III? Unreal II was an another great game for 1P!

Definitely the original Unreal Tournament, UT99.  It is the greatest online multiplayer FPS of all time.

Like many here, Unreal Tournament series! Loved UT2004 the most, played it actively for about 5 years until school got more important than gaming.

Guess that after all these UT fans, you guys might consider UT4 ?

Speed, teamplay, great community made levels (although Diamondus Warzone is still one of the best ctf maps), what more could you wish for?

What’s amazing about the online gameplay of JJ2 is how strategic it becomes once you start playing seriously. So depending on the level you can have a very defensive game or it can be and all out action fest where both teams are ready to score and the flagcarrier with the most wit, speed and ingenuity gets the point home for his team.

Feels freaking awesome to bring one home when nobody expects it:)

Still one of the best platform games out there, and multiplayer kicks ass. After all these years it still gets played online very often, especially CTF.

because, the unreal universe is rich, with magic atmosphere like Unreal 1 and Unreal Tournament and my parrents made me gift 2008 christmas I’ve got an U medallion! No other game can touch so deeply my hearth like Unreal games!

Hehe, judging by the Jazz Jackrabbit fans around here they’d have to make a new Jazz Jackrabbit too (I wouldn’t mind, would be also really awesome to see a new game)

Although my copy of the original Jazz Jackrabbit hasn’t been ordered yet(Hopefully I’ll get it soon), I’ve been playing Jazz Jackrabbit 2 for pretty much my whole life. It’s just awesome. It’s got the perfect formula of win. I’ve played the first game’s Demo like crazy for the past 3-5 years, and I play Holiday Hare ’94 and ’95 around Christmas. Those two games are awesome. Another thing I’ve been doing as long as I can remember is Jazz Creation Station. Man, that editor is great. I still make cool things using it, although most of the things I make I never finish. XD Anyway, these are two of my favorite games of all time.

Tyrian, like Jazz, is one of those games that I can’t remember not knowing about. My older brother was playing it before I was even born, and I’ve been playing it as long as I can remember. It’s the best Scrolling Shooter I’ve ever played. It’s even Freeware!

Those are my favorite Epic Games.

Jazz Jackrabbit… 1. Yeah, not 2. Don’t get me wrong, 2 was good too, but it felt a little rushed. I love the first one because it’s just so timeless. The animations and level designs still hold up, and the soundtrack is just awesome. You guys should make another Jazz game! The Game Boy Advance one was not very good.

I wholeheartedly agree with [GpW]Urbs. I started playing Jazzjackrabbit 2 competitively (by our standards) in 2004 and I haven’t lost interest since.

I’d say the first Jazz game is more revolutionary and has better reputation with CliffyB and Epic, but the sequel has kept us going for more than a decenia and is still going strong!

Oh, my comment is deleted. Guess I have to state why I think Jazz Jackrabbit is still the best in my opinion . It helps I am still playing Jazz2 and I have the honour to play versus some tactical masterminds. Jazz2 indeed get’s very tactical while you start to play seriously as [GpW]Urbs already mentioned.

I’ve been playing Jazz2 since 2000 and haven’t lost interest in it either. Sure, other games can be fun but nothing is like the small Jazz2 community + the interesting matches you can get. Everybody knows who’s who which is nice too. It feels a bit like home .

I challenge you guys to come and experience the wide possibilities of Jazz2, try to play some 3v3s and you’ll find out only a part of what the possibilities actually are .

Jazz Jackrabbit 2 is most favorite games in my life. Music was made by professional composers… Graphic is just amazing, and it has very good style… Simple and good gameplay. Nothing much left to say else… If you want to refresh old times or just have some fun – play Jazz Jackrabbit 2, as we do…

I’ve been playing this game for almost 11 years now, and It’s still great! It even has it’s own online community surrounding it, complete with Clans and voulunteers hosting servers 24/7 (I’m one of them btw XD)

This is a game that should not be forgotten, and I’m really happy to see all the attention it gets in the comments.

Jazz Jackrabbit 2 is a great game

Jazz Jackrabbit 2 continues to be ever fantastic among the gaming repertoire these days. It saddens me somewhat to see such a quality game
get pushed further into the shelves as an ‘oldie’ when it remains one of the best games there are in the modern age. The gameplay in this ‘old-fashioned’ 2D sidescrolling shooter rivals and even surpasses the newest games of this age. Jazz Jackrabbit 2 came out in 1998, 13 years ago, and managed to sustain a consistent fanbase over all these years, even picking up new members along recent times. Online competitive gameplay has become the norm, with a heavy emphasis on strategy that modern 3D first-person shooters could learn from. The community surrounding JJ2 has been steadily chipping away at what possible improvements can be made without the attention of the developers, and we have also created numerous different custom levels, ranging from single player levels and CTF maps, which only strengthen the fanbase. If you ever drop by the current fan site, you’d be surprised.

We all want more Jazz. All of us.

Jazz Jackrabbit 2 and Unreal! A very nostalgic games that I enjoy playing everyday again and again. Also all the UT games of course! I love these games!

Please, reconsidering port Unreal into HD Unreal Engine 3!

Unreal Tournament 3!

The original Unreal, at the time, was truly “unreal.” The subsequent titles have followed the tradition, but nothing in any game (from Epic or anyone else) has surpassed the chills that went down my spine when I first entered the Sunspire level of single player of Unreal.

TSF was the right way to do an expansion for a game!

This was a tough choice since there were many good games to begin with, but I think the best games that Epic Games made would be the original Unreal Tornament, and Jazz Jackrabbit 2, i’ll start with Jazz Jackrabbit 2.

Jazz Jackrabbit 2 is a great platformer with good controls, great graphics for it’s time, pretty challenging in multiplayer, 5 game modes, a simple level editor and online multiplayer with an alive community still making Jazz Jackrabbit 2 levels today! It’s just overall the best platformer for Windows that’s for everyone.

Unreal Tornament ’99 is really a great game, good controls, most detailed graphics we have seen at the time, a real challenge, 6 game modes, an advanced level editor, and multiplayer with an alive community! It’s overall my favorite multiplayer FPS.

So Epic Games Staff, if you are reading this, please make another Jazz Jackrabbit, not like Jazz Jackrabbit Advance, like the original 2 Jazz Jackrabbit games. Just check http://www.jazzjackrabbit.net to see how big the Jazz Jackrabbit community is. Also, can you please make a remake of Unreal Tornament ’99. It’s a good way to see what games were like back then. Especially since it’s Epic’s 20 anniversary

The Jazz Jackrabbit series are two of the best games ever made. I can’t get enough of Jazz. The gameplay, the awesome music and the beautiful cartoony graphics.
