A Message from Tim Sweeney

Tim_Sweeney_01We’re closing Impossible Studios.

When former members of Big Huge Games approached Epic last year, we saw the opportunity to help a great group of people while putting them to work on a project that needed a team.  It was a bold initiative and the Impossible folks made a gallant effort, but ultimately it wasn’t working out for Epic.

In addition to providing Impossible Studios employees with 3 months of severance pay, we’ll be giving the team the opportunity to form a new company with the Impossible Studios name and the awesome Impossibear logo.

This means that Infinity Blade: Dungeons is now on hold as we figure out the future of the project.

for god’s sake, just give IBD to Chair and they should finished, the ones that bought the ipad 3 for this must be really piss

      • fatandsloppy

haha, “the ones that bought the ipad 3 for this” must be retarded to buy a $500 tablet just for a game that’s not even out.

    • Jeez

This is probably the most anticipated game on mobile platforms. Are you really going to just shutter this?

    • UbiquitousGeek

Huge disappointment. Get it together. This looked like it would have been a fantastic game.

    • Graham

      Wtf? I need IBD!

    • MattS71

What the hell is happening at Epic? Most of their senior staff has left and now they’ve just screwed over a group of people they meant to help? I am almost embarrassed for Epic these days.

    • fatandsloppy

epic is falling apart at the seams

      Oh,fuck

Seriously? I thought it would be launching any day now. WTF is going on @ Epic Games?

It’s sad to see Epic Games in so many problems lately. I just wish that they made another Unreal (Tournament) game, it’s been too long (2007). Sure, GoW is hugely successful, but Unreal is the first game that I think of when someone mentions Epic Games, and I think that they should go back to that franchise.

“we’ll be giving the team the opportunity to form a new company with the
Impossible Studios name and the awesome Impossibear logo.”

Why would a company you let go of less than a year after you bought them even want to use that logo? I’d consider it a logo to let go of, and quickly.

Awwww Noooo, come oooon?! Are you for real? This was supposed to be my gift for christmas I waited all year and now this? S***!!!!!!

    • Leogallo

Terrible news for someone who was just looking for a release date…
Been waiting for this game for so long, just to see it stall like this.

C’mon, one of the most anticipated mobile games can’t just die like this!

    • HotApple

i think that the game will come out eventually , i dont think that infinity blade dungeons project will be scrapt and chair studios will come up with the infinity blade 3.So no worries the game will come out at some point in the future :)

      kickstarter?

The root of all Epic’s problems was partnering with microsoft. The old Epic from the Unreal and Unreal Tournament days was the best Epic. I never really liked the Gears games because they put a shooter on a system that uses a console controller instead of a mouse and keyboard. I know it’s about making money, just I wish the old Epic would come back. Hopefully the ones that have left will reform under a new studio and make good games and not make deals with anyone.

Really hoping it’s only a short transitional phase in orde to hand-over the game to Chair/another Epic team. Still the number 1 game on my radar, but some communication on the future would be nice. Best of luck to Epic, Chair and the parting Impossible team.

Jesus. BHG just can’t catch a fucking break.

        “We shipped Reckoning today!”

        “You’re all fired.”

        “Epic gave us jobs!”

        “You’re all fired. Again.”

    • guybrushTeewoood

I did buy an iPad 3 back then because of the TechDemo at the Apple Keynote.
This is bad, would have been a great game.

Gears of War Judgment is fucking shit. Press B to kill yourself before an enemy can kill you? Oh my fucking jesus. Epic Games and People Can Fly are filled with cunt employees.

Where’s Infinity blade dungeons? Infinity blade was the most valueable game for epic? What a big let down for fans.

Hi there, I’m looking for some great coders in C, C++ with game experience for a subsidiary of Warcraft they just acquired. I don’t mean to intrude, just thought some people could use some excitement and a great opportunity with a nice environment, goodies, BBQs – all the regular bonuses. Please get in touch with e_lizabetht@yahoo.com. thanks for reading.

Hey Tim old friend! Any chances that you may reboot ‘unreal’? My son Brayden doesn’t quite understand how Unreal that game was/is. -Chris Nazarian (potomac, Md)

It all started with Committing to M$ for GOW and dropping your PC Originators by Shelving UT Indefinitely. If it weren’t for UT, no one would give a rats ass about Unreal Engine today. Where’s Cliffy B.? Right, he did the right thing and left to retain some dignity of how this all started. You think people this smart would learn by seeing what has happened with other Developers like Bioware…
