It’s one of our favorite times of year: The annual Game Developers Conference has kicked off, and we have loads of news for everyone this week.
Drop In, Come See Us!
These time slots are specifically designed for independent developers and teams who haven’t already secured an appointment to stop by and chat with one of our dedicated territory managers about any questions regarding Unreal Engine technology.
We encourage folks to check out NVIDIA’s booth, South #1602, which is showcasing Epic’s very own Samaritan and Elemental demo content along with a sneak peek at what we’re presenting behind closed doors this year. The entire GeForce wall highlights the progression of our next-gen technology! As a heads up, NVIDIA will have a special reveal from us at their booth on Friday starting at the opening of the expo and running throughout the day.
The Future of VR Is Unreal!
Today we announced that Oculus VR will release a custom version of the Unreal Development Kit (UDK), the free edition of Unreal Engine 3 (UE3). The special UDK release will ship during the first week of April, giving all Oculus developers award-winning Unreal Engine tools for day one support, right out of the box.
In addition, as Oculus is now a member of Epic’s premier UE3 Integrated Partners Program (IPP), we are providing UE3 full source licensees with the Oculus integration code at no extra charge.
Oculus is showcasing two fantastic Unreal Engine demonstrations at GDC this week as well. The first is Hawken, the incredible mech shooter from Adhesive Games, who started out building their game and easily upgraded to a full source UE3 license. The second awesome VR experience that must be seen to be believed is Epic Citadel – our expanded snowy version as demonstrated by Oculus on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
There’s never been a better time to be an Unreal Engine developer. We’ll have more to share with everyone soon throughout the week. Stay tuned and be sure to follow @UnrealEngine!
