Gears Weekend: BoomSnipes return for Halloween!

Gears of War 3 Halloween Weekend BoomSnipesIn this Halloween playlist, the default weapon loadout will be changed to, you guessed it, Boomshot and Snipers. Weapon drops in the maps will be a mix of the two. We’ve had a lot of fun and carnage with this playlist during previous events! NOTE: You may need to restart your console to see the changes.

You will also be getting special Halloween weapon skins; the Trick skin for the Lancer and the Treat skin for the Gnansher. In the BoomSnipes playlist, the Pumpkin Heads make a return and for you Horde fans, BEWARE THE BUTCHER. He is out for blood!

The 3x XP will also continue, and the ribbon has changed so be sure to play if you’re missing any!

[EGFC] Live and Let Horde Event

On August 18th, the Epic Games Forum Clan will be hosting Horde lobbies with Epic employees and members of Team Epic Gamers. Each match will be a run from wave seven through wave ten, so there will be plenty of chances to play with an Epic Employee or member of Team Epic Gamers. The matches will be streamed and the EGFC team will have some Gears of War 3 DLC codes to give away!

Epic Gamers: Horde Map Guides

Horde Map GuidesArcAngel from the Epic Forums has created Horde Guides for the maps in Gears of War 3. The guides are in the form of overhead maps that show where bases and fortifications can be deployed. The guide also contains detailed information about the available weapons and bases, including item costs, and mutators. There are tips on each map’s page to tell you the best way to attack the map.

Ticker Tuesday is Live!

Gears of War 3 Ticker TuesdayHere they come! Today is Ticker Tuesday and we have added boatloads of Tickers in Horde. We have to give you fair warning though, don’t get too close! We’ve also added huge explosions. Anything that blows up will have an increased damage radius, so be careful when shooting an enemy that is by a team mate.

Ticker Tuesday runs through tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM EST. Have fun, and let us know your thoughts in the comments!

Gears Weekend Recap September 23, 2011

GearsWeekendWe’ve made it through the first Gears Weekend after launch and it was a great one! On Twitter, we read about your levels gained, what you thought about the campaign, how you enjoyed playing as the Locust in Beast and how you were killing Locusts with your friends in Horde.

Gears of War 3 Game with Development EventOn Friday Night, we had our first of what is sure to be many Game with Developers night. Plenty of our guys came out to play and we had a wonderful response from the fans. We are really looking forward to more of these fun events! Thank you to everyone who showed up to play. The developers really enjoyed themselves. The Community Team also represented with @raczilla holding his own against the fans.

We’re looking forward to this new season of Gears Weekends and we’ll have lots of great events coming up. Stay tuned!
