Marcus Can Dance?

Near the end of 2008, film animator Tal Peleg made a video with one of his favorite game characters, Marcus Fenix from Gears of War. Tal’s career consisted mainly of film, feature animation and VFX. Soon after this video was made, Tal made the jump to games, working on Dead Space 2. He then joined Naughty Dog as a Senior Cinematic Animator. The video was a big hit here at Epic, so we decided to post it for Gears of War Fans.

Tal said, “Around fall of 2008 I rigged and animated this to the track of UT3′s “Go Down” (3DSmax). It wasn’t very intuitive to animate with unfortunately, but I thought it reached a fairly presentable point. Seems like it meshes well as Marcus dances to one of the more awesome techno tracks of the Unreal universe.”

Gears of War and Minecraft!

Many of our community members are fans of both Gears of War and Minecraft. In January, we saw our first Gears of War map in Minecraft, Gridlock. Since then, the community has created Blood Drive, Depths and even started making statues of Gears of War characters, weapons and Epic Games logos.

“Ninja Taco” made a Clayton Carmine Statue and even gave a tutorial on how to create it. Blue Dodger from the Epic Games forum has created a lot of the Gears of War items in Minecraft and he shows them off in THIS thread.

More Gears of War Minecraft Skins Coming Soon!

Skin Pack 2 for the Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is coming and there will be four Gears of War skins for you to download and enjoy!

Marcus Fenix, Skorge, Anya Stroud, and Damon Baird will all be included in the pack.

Hand Drawn Marcus Fenix T-Shirt

Hand Drawn Marcus Fenix T-ShirtSkise from the Italian Epic Gamers community has a friend who is a tattoo and traditional artist. Alessia Montisci (aka Fava) decided to surprise Skise with this amazing hand drawn Marcus Fenix t-shirt. After she sketched the Marcus images onto the shirt, she used black fabric ink to go over the lines and shading to make it permanent.

I’m sure Skise will cherish this one of a kind Gears of War item for years to come. You can see more of Alessia’s artwork on her Facebook page. Alessia would also like to thank Tattooist Serci Luigi for his dedication to Tattoo Art.

NECA: Gears 3 Series Figures are on the Way!

Gears of War 3 Figures to Arrive at Retailers Mid-November

NECA Gears of War 3 FiguresNECA today announced that The Gears of War 3 Series 1 figures are now shipping from their factories. The first batch includes Marcus Fenix, Clay Carmine and Anya Stroud. All are brand new sculpts, have over 30 points of articulation and are being called the most incredible Gears of War figures yet.

You should start seeing the figures in a few weeks, and according to The NECA website, the Gears of War 3 Series 2 Figures will follow soon after!
