Paul Meegan Brings Valuable Leadership and Expertise to Epic

Paul Meegan - Vice President of Development at Epic GamesA trusted, familiar face has returned to Epic Games.

We are pleased to share that Paul Meegan is Epic’s new vice president of product development.

Paul’s name should ring a bell for those working in the games business. Back in 1997, he founded Sinister Games just down the street from Epic. Ubisoft’s purchase of Sinister in 2000 led Paul to Ubisoft Montreal, where he oversaw the inception of Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Myst III: Exile, among other games.

After two years building Jaleco’s publishing business, Paul worked on the Rayman, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six franchises at Ubisoft Shanghai. In 2006, he moved on to establish Epic Games China.

Over the course of the next four years, Paul helped Epic Games China – which now operates as Yingpei Games – establish a successful on-the-ground Unreal Engine licensing business and develop the Atlas MMO backend technology framework for licensees. In addition, the company quickly became a leading, high-quality content outsourcing provider and also created original IP for the Chinese games market.

Paul comes to Epic headquarters in Cary, NC after spending two years as president of LucasArts, where he refined corporate, publishing and technological strategy across the company’s award-winning franchises. One of Paul’s proudest moments was LucasArts’ E3 2012 unveiling of the Unreal Engine 3-powered Star Wars: 1313, which won 31 nominations and 10 awards, including the Game Critics Award for Special Commendation in Graphics in addition to four Best of Show awards.

Paul is now working with Epic’s executive team and talented developers on all of our latest projects.
