Epic Games’ President Dr. Michael Capps Wins 2009
NCTA 21 ‘Technology Executive of the Year’ Award

CARY,NC (November 13, 2009) – Epic Games President Dr. Michael Capps has been honored as the Technology Executive of the Year by the North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA). Dr. Capps received the first “People’s Choice” accolade of the time-honored NCTA 21 Awards at the organization’s annual gala last night. This year’s event was attended by a record crowd of more than 650 business and technology leaders from across the state.

“Being presented with this award is incredibly flattering, and I am grateful to NCTA and to everyone who supported me with votes,” said Dr. Michael Capps, president of Epic Games. “I’m fortunate to work with the most creative and talented people in the video game industry, so this award also reflects on their achievements as outstanding game developers.”

Under Capps’ leadership, Epic Games has been named Studio of the Year by Spike TV (2006), Developer of the Year by Official Xbox Magazine (2006), NCTA Large Company of the Year (2007) and NCTA Top Industry Driven Technology Company of the Year (2008). This year, Epic Games was a finalist in NCTA’s Top Industry Driven Technology Company of the Year and Large Company of the Year award categories.

The NCTA 21 Awards are recognized as North Carolina’s most prestigious awards, celebrating innovation and excellence in North Carolina. The annual showcase honors companies and individuals in 21 categories representing the best and brightest in technology and business.
